Heavy rain and the ongoing risk of flooding continue to affect large parts of Ireland this week. Met Éireann has issued multiple Status Orange rain warnings for counties including Dublin, Louth, Waterford, and Wicklow, signalling very heavy rain falling on already saturated ground.
Additional Status Yellow warnings remain in place for several counties including Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, and Tipperary. These warnings are expected to remain through Friday as rivers running high from recent rainfall and strong spring tides elevate flood risk along low-lying and riverside areas.

Authorities have emphasised that heavy rain combined with high tides could result in both localised and river flooding, making some roads particularly hazardous and emphasising the importance of avoiding unnecessary travel during peak periods.
Local councils and emergency services have been coordinating closely with the National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG) to monitor river levels and manage resources. Officials have appealed to residents to stay updated with Met Éireann forecasts and to heed safety notices, particularly in areas that have already seen surface water and river flooding in recent days.
