Order of Malta Ireland Provides Emergency Aid to Flood-Affected Areas
Order of Malta volunteers have been providing emergency aid and support to communities affected by recent flooding in the midlands. Teams have been deployed across Westmeath, Offaly, and Roscommon to assist affected families.
Emergency Response Deployment
Following severe flooding caused by unprecedented rainfall, Order of Malta Ireland mobilized its emergency response teams within hours. Volunteers from units across the country traveled to affected areas to provide immediate assistance to displaced families.
The response has included providing emergency shelter supplies, distributing food packages, offering first aid services, and supporting vulnerable residents including elderly people and those with mobility issues to safely evacuate flooded properties.
"Our volunteers have been working tirelessly to support communities devastated by these floods. We're committed to being here for as long as these communities need us."
— Chief Operations Officer, Order of Malta Ireland
Coordination with Emergency Services
Order of Malta teams have been working in close coordination with local authorities, Civil Defence, and other emergency services. Their medical-trained volunteers have provided valuable support to the HSE in caring for displaced residents with ongoing health needs.
Ongoing Support
As floodwaters begin to recede, Order of Malta volunteers are shifting focus to supporting the clean-up effort and providing ongoing welfare support to affected families. The organization has also launched a flood relief fund to support long-term recovery efforts.
